APRIL GREETING 2024

MONTHLY GREETING APRIL 2024

Hello friends

Most of us look forward to the month of April as spring returns with warm temperatures, blooming flowers, and many outdoor festivals. As we embrace April, we also reflect on the culmination of the first quarter of 2024. It’s a pivotal moment to assess the pulse of our local real estate market. Be sure to stay tuned for my upcoming market reports, where I’ll provide insightful statistics on how our communities have fared in the opening months of the year.

While the pace of the year seems to have quickened, it’s been accompanied by an abundance of rain and snow. While this precipitation is a welcome relief for California’s ongoing drought concerns, it presents challenges for areas susceptible to flooding and mudslides. Yet, amidst the showers and sunshine, April holds a wealth of history, intriguing facts, and joyous celebrations. let’s check a few out

April History

April holds a rich tapestry of history and lore, woven into the fabric of time by ancient civilizations. Let’s embark on a journey to uncover the secrets and wonders of this captivating month.

Did you know April was the second month of the earliest Roman calendar, before Ianuarius and Februarius were added by King Numa Pompilius about 700 BC. It became the fourth month of the calendar year during the time of the decemvirs about 450 BC, then the month was only 29 days long. The 30th day was added back during the reform of the calendar undertaken by Julius Caesar in the mid-40s BC, which produced the Julian calendar.

In case you were wondering (The decemviri or decemvirs (Latin for “ten men”) refer to official 10-man commissions established by the Roman Republic.)

The English word “April” traces its roots back to the Latin “Aprilis,” its significance shrouded in mystery. Some speculate its association with the Latin verb “aperire,” symbolizing the blooming of nature’s bounty, “to open,” because April “opened” the buds of leaves and flowers.

Others believe April to be named for the Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite. I think I like that idea better

Here are a few more fun facts about April

  • Did you ever wonder how April Fool’s Day started? It is speculated that the custom of April Fools began in France during the 16th century, after the New year calendar was moved from April 1st to January 1st. Those who continued to celebrate the April new year were considered fools, and often the victims of practical jokes. Today we just like to have a little fun with our friends!
  • April has two birth flowers. the daisy and the sweet pea. The sweet pea signifies blissful pleasure, while daisies represent childhood innocence, loyalty, and purity.

  • Notable birthdays for April include Queen Elizabeth II, Leonardo da Vinci, William Shakespeare and Thomas Jefferson.
  • April has two zodiac signs—Aries ♈️ and Taurus ♉️. If you were born between March 21 – April 19, you’re an Aries, typically known for a competitive, energetic, fearless spirit. If you were born between April 20 – May 20, you’re a Taurus who can tend to be stubborn yet reliable, responsible, and practical.
